Boyne Highlands Community Highlights

After purchasing the Harbor Highlands Ski Area in nearby Harbor Springs, Michigan, and developing its ski facilities, Everett Kircher became serious about golf.  Noted architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr., was hired to design the 18-hole Heather course that opened in 1966.  By 1967, the Heather course was ranked as one of the “Top 100 Courses in the U.S.” by Golf Digest Magazine.  It was the spark that ignited the golf boom in northwest Michigan, now referred to as America’s Summer Golf Course Capital.

Golfing

The Arthur Hills golf course, a hallmark course that lives up to its namesake's famous reputation, is widely regarded as one of the best in Michigan - and a must-see for passionate golfers both locally and nationally. This picturesque course offers outstanding playability for players of all abilities, with its wide, bunker-dotted fairways, shrinking approaches, and intriguing greens.

The Donald Ross Memorial is the golfing equivalent of a "best hits" compilation, consisting of a selection of the greatest holes ever constructed by one of the sport's greatest course designers. The course is the result of a labor of love that began with an idea, progressed through years of travel, play, and passionate debate, and concluded in one of the country's most rewarding courses.

It's not a gimmick. It's not a ruse. It's a fact: The Heather has established itself as one of the best championship courses in the country. This Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed course, which has hosted Michigan Amateurs, AJGA Championships, the Michigan State Pro-Am, and The Celebrity Tour since 1966, bears all the hallmarks of its great designer.

The Moor is often recognized as a members' favorite and serves as a fair and accurate test of the game. The doglegs make the difference. The Moor's first nine, which features multiple twists and turns, suits right-handed power fade hitters, with holes 1, 2, 7, and 9 displaying their curves right off the tee. The Moor has been chosen as an AJGA Championship course due to its reputation as a player's golf course.

The Cuff Links Executive Par 3 course at Boyne Highlands Resort Day Lodge is nine holes of fun located at the base of the North Camelot ski hill. This course is completely free and is an excellent method to improve your short game and putting. Take your children or family out on the course, then unwind at Slopeside Lounge for some fun and food.
