1. When should I visit Deer Lake?

This is really up to you and what you like to do. There’s certainly no bad time to visit Deer Lake, which is why we call it a “year-round playground.” In the summer, we’ve got beaches, hiking, biking, and more. In the spring and winter, there’s skiing and snowboarding. In the fall, there’s gorgeous foliage and outdoor festivities. You really can’t go wrong.

2. How do I get to Deer Lake?

Whether driving or flying, getting here is relatively easy with plenty of beautiful lake views and scenery along the way.

Deer Lake is a moderately sized kettle lake located in south-central Charlevoix County. High hills stand between the lake and Boyne City to the north, Boyne Falls to the east, and East Jordan to the west. Deer Lake sits at the headwaters of Deer Creek, which is a major tributary of the Jordan River. Deer Creek begins as an outflow from the lake and flows nearly 10 miles west before its confluence with the Jordan River to the south of East Jordan. Deer Lake is, therefore, part of the Jordan River and larger Lake Charlevoix Watersheds.
