Keep an eye open for bald eagles overhead, blue and green herons sneaking along the riverbank or cedar waxwings and kingfisher’s crisscrossing the river skylines. Resident wildlife has included beaver, mink, otters, whitetail deer, black bear, woodchuck, bobcat, coyote and a one-time grey wolf siting on the property. Becoming more abundant are partridge, ruffed grouse and woodcocks. This area is a spring stopover for migratory birds. Keep a feeder out to invite them to stay awhile for your viewing pleasure. Crack a window in the evening to catch the sound of nearby Barred owls- so cool! A variety of wildflowers bloom on the property from spring through fall. If your timing is just right you may find a bounty of morel mushrooms. Truly an amazing little piece of nature to enjoy! All this and just 5 minutes to Crystal Mountain Ski and Golf Resort, a short drive or walk down the road for dinner at Iron Fish Distillery and a short drive to the neighboring towns of Beulah and Frankfort providing access to Lake Michigan, Crystal Lake and many shops and restaurants.
